Pittsburgh Contact Improvisation
Explore the Art of Movement and Connection
Join us for Pittsburgh Contact Improvisation, a weekly practice held at the historic Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC) in Swissvale. Contact Improvisation (CI) is a dance form based on the physical principles of touch, momentum, shared weight, and a shared point of contact.
Whether you are a seasoned dancer or completely new to improvisational movement, our jams and workshops offer a welcoming, inclusive space to explore your body’s potential in relation to others and the floor.
What to Expect
Open Jams: A non-performance space for self-guided exploration and spontaneous movement.
Skill Building: Occasional facilitated intros to help beginners understand the "falling, rolling, and counterbalancing" fundamentals.
Community: A supportive environment that prioritizes safety, consent, and creative expression.
Get Involved
We welcome all bodies and skill levels. No partner is necessary to join.
