The WSCC Maker Space: A Hub for Innovation and Community

The Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC) is proud to introduce its newest addition: the WSCC Maker Space. Funded by a generous ARPA grant from the Borough of Swissvale, this transformative project has turned a portion of our historic building into a dedicated center for creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

Whether you are an artist, a hobbyist, or an entrepreneur, the Maker Space is designed to be a place where the Swissvale community can meet, play, and grow together.

What is the Maker Space?

The Maker Space at WSCC is a multipurpose environment that provides community members with access to tools and resources that might otherwise be out of reach. It is a "community workshop" that fosters a culture of innovation and skill development.

Key Features of the Space:

  • Collaborative Work Areas: Open layouts designed for group projects, workshops, and brainstorming.

  • Specialized Programming: The space is home to unique community groups, such as the Czech School and various board game meetups.

  • Versatile Tool Access: (Coming Soon/In-Progress) We are continuously building our inventory of creative equipment to support everything from traditional crafts to modern digital fabrication.

Community Use and Private Rentals

The Maker Space isn't just for classes—it’s for you. We offer flexible options for individuals and organizations to utilize the room for their own creative endeavors.

  • Work Studio Rentals: The space is available for short-term and long-term residency for makers and entrepreneurs looking for a dedicated place to focus and thrive.

  • Private Meetings: Host your own creative workshop, planning session, or small community gathering.

  • Inclusive Environment: Located on the lower level, the space is part of our commitment to providing an accessible and inviting environment for all residents.
