AEROBICS and FITNESS

We have fun moving to the beat of a wide range of musical styles while we build strength and endurance.  Bring mat, towel and weights. We welcome Holly Mihm, an experienced and enthusiastic teacher!

Fees: $30 (one session per week); $40 (2 days); $55 (3days)

DAYTIME AEROBICS
TUES: 9.30-10.30 AM
Holly Mihm offers you another chance to try her fun aerobics class. Babysitting will be available for a small fee. If you can't make a morning class, you can attend one in the evening. When you register, please let us know if you would like babysitting and the age of your children.

Fees: $30 (one session per week for 6 weeks).  Baby-sitting is $30 for six-weeks of classes, fee due at first session.

AIKIDO KOKIKAI: (A seven week class)
MON & WED: 8:00-9:30 PM
SAT: 7:15-8:45 AM (7 WEEKS)
Aikido works with the momentum and reflexes of an attacker as an effective method of self-defense well suited to people of all ages and sizes.   Practice develops your grace, confidence and stamina.  It’s also fun!  Wear loose fitting clothing.  The instructor is Barbara Litt.

Fee: $40 (1 day/week), $55 (2 days) or $65 (3 days).

KARATE
MON. & TUES.: Beginners: (Kids ages 8 & up) 6:00-7:15 PM
Adult Class: 7:15-8:30 PM
The style taught, Wado Ryu (way of peace and harmony), teaches not only self-defense but also the respect that goes along with it.

Fee: $35/month.  Private classes available.

T’AI CHI CH’UAN

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a series of soft, fluid exercises designed to promote good health and well-being between mind, body and spirit.

BEGINNING YOGA
WED: 7 – 8:30 PM
FRI: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
This classical Hatha Yoga style class develops flexibility with relaxation and breathing techniques, progressing from pre-Yoga poses to basic Yoga poses.  Students with no Yoga experience and returning students with some beginning experience are appropriate.  Instructor Debbie Buff. 

Fee: $45.

CONTINUING YOGA
TUES: 7:00-8:30 PM
This class is for those who have some familiarity with the basics and who wish to deepen and expand their understanding of Yoga.  We will incorporate greater breath awareness and longer holds of classical Yoga postures.

WATERCOLOR
TUES: 3:00 – 5:30 PM
TUES: 6:00 – 8:30 PM
Experienced watercolor teacher, Marci Mason, leads this class for beginners and experienced painters who would like to improve their technique.  If you don’t have supplies, buy a beginners watercolor kit.

Fee: $45

ARGENTINE TANGO
SESSION I: January 6, 13, 20, 27 and February 3, 10
Tango Fundamentals with Fran Pionati: 4:30 – 6:00 PM

Students connect with and invite their partner to move in expression with Tango music.  Introduces the tango walk, the embrace, the cadenza, the cross, and etiquette.  This class is designed for beginners as well as those looking to polish up their tango foundation.  Leather-soled or suede-soled shoes are best for dancing.

SESSION II: March 2, 9, 16, 30 and April 6, 13.
Tango Fundamentals Continued with Steve & Sandy Langton: 4:30 – 6:00 PM

Students develop their musicality add ochos, turns, and ocho contado to their foundation technique.  For those with previous Tango experience, especially those who have taken classes with Pittsburgh Tangueros.

Sunday Practica: 6:00 – 8:00 ($3 unless enrolled in class)

SALSA I – Beginner Level
Tuesday : 6:30 – 7:30 PM
This introductory class will cover the fundamentals of Salsa dancing including learning to dance in time with salsa rhythm, basic foot work, simple turns and patterns, and proper lead/follow technique. SALSA II – Beginner/Intermediate Level
Tuesday : 7:30 – 8:30 PM
This class is designed for those dancers with some previous Salsa experience.  The essential basics of Salsa I will be reviewed before introduction intermediate Salsa turns and combinations.  Singles and couples welcome. 6 weeks.

Zumba
Monday & Wednesday: 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Zumba is back with a new instructor, Tara Kennedy.  Zumba combines high-energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries.  Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music.  Participants should wear basic sneakers – not running shoes- and bring water and a towel.

Fee: $30 (1 day/ week), $40 (2 days) Drop-in session $10.

Colonial Rug Braiding
Thursday 7:00 – 8:30
Rugbraiding is a traditional American Craft that started out of necessity and has developed into an art form.  Learn to braid an heirloom 2’ x 3’ spiral rug and a 16” chair pad.  Interloop lacing will be taught as well as planning for color changes and patterning for diamonds or triangles.  Recycling wool from coats and other clothing is encouraged.  Starter kit ($20) is optional.  It will include lacing needle (large-eye tapestry needle will do), lacing thread, safety pins, clothing pins, and pre-pored strip of wool.  Bring scissors, needle and thread.  Join us in making a practical and beautiful object for your home.  Teacher Christine Manges, Chair of Valley Forge Rug Braiding Guild.
