There are restful ponds, waterfalls, inviting dining and seating areas, vegetable gardens,
flowers gardens, gardens with flowers and vegetables harmoniously together, miniatures and more.
These gardens were selected by a committee that has 2 master gardeners,
two people who love to putz garden
and one who prefers just to look at beautiful gardens others worked so hard on.

Welcome to the Wilkins School Community Center

Who is the Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC)?

The Wilkins School Community Center is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that has been a vital space in the heart of Regent Square for over 30 years. The former school building, located at 7604 Charleston Avenue at the intersection of Milton Avenue, provides a meeting place for many other civic groups such at the Regent Square Civic Association (RSCA) and the Run Around the Square (RATS).  (Note: the residents of Regent Square are triple lucky to have three separate nonprofit organizations working to enhance the quality of their neighborhood in such unique and distinct ways; the WSCC, RSCA and RATS.)

Several cultural and educational organizations use the WSCC to teach and meet, such as PALS, a home schooling group that offers weekly classes, Osher Institute of Life Long Learning and the OCA, the Organization of Chinese Americans. The WSCC itself offers numerous classes in the arts, dance, yoga, martial arts, cooking, wine tasting and fitness each week. Some rooms in the center, including a kitchen, are available for hourly, daily, weekly and monthly rentals at very reasonable rates. Many in the neighborhood cast their ballots on Election Day at the WSCC.

In 2006, the WSCC installed a playground on the grounds with the help of members of the community. This playground is enjoyed daily by children in the neighborhood and was paid for by fundraising efforts of the WSCC. The WSCC is responsible for all building and ground maintenance and their costs. These expenses are paid with membership contributions, tax-deductible donations and rental fees. Volunteers are an important component of our operations: volunteers maintain the WSCC gardens, stock and run the Annual Used Book and Plant Sale, and plan and produce the Holiday Shop and the EcoFest.

If you enjoy having a vibrant community center in the neighborhood and all that it offers, please show us your support by participating in our events, becoming a friend of the WSCC, making a donation, or volunteering.
