Help Needed!

Our weed pulling volunteers have issued this statement,

"We are two tough 70 plus women who can pull weeds with the best of them but we need reinforcements to help  tackle the hillside along Braddock Ave. We can meet any evening that works for you. Call Kay at 412.731.8057 or email us. "

 Thank you!

Who did that?

Regent Square Concrete Man, owned by Frank Mariani Jr., donated a concrete pad for the bench and the bench is so much more comfy!

Community Herb Garden is in!

Watch it grow, help yourself once the crops are in.

Join the garden committee every Wed in June from 9am-11am for weeding, planting and more.

Welcome to the Wilkins School Community Center

Who is the Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC)?

The Wilkins School Community Center is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that has been a vital space in the heart of Regent Square for over 30 years. The former school building, located at 7604 Charleston Avenue at the intersection of Milton Avenue, provides a meeting place for many other civic groups such at the Regent Square Civic Association (RSCA) and the Run Around the Square (RATS).  (Note: the residents of Regent Square are triple lucky to have three separate nonprofit organizations working to enhance the quality of their neighborhood in such unique and distinct ways; the WSCC, RSCA and RATS.)

Several cultural and educational organizations use the WSCC to teach and meet, such as the Osher Institute of Life Long Learning and the OCA, the Organization of Chinese Americans. The WSCC itself offers numerous classes in the arts, dance, yoga, martial arts, cooking, wine tasting and fitness each week. Some rooms in the center, including a kitchen, are available for hourly, daily, weekly and monthly rentals at very reasonable rates. Many in the neighborhood cast their ballots on Election Day at the WSCC.

In 2006, the WSCC installed a playground on the grounds with the help of members of the community. This playground is enjoyed daily by children in the neighborhood and was paid for by fundraising efforts of the WSCC. The WSCC is responsible for all building and ground maintenance and their costs. These expenses are paid with membership contributions, tax-deductible donations and rental fees. Volunteers are an important component of our operations: volunteers maintain the WSCC gardens, stock and run the Annual Used Book and Plant Sale, and plan and produce the Holiday Shop and the EcoFest.

If you enjoy having a vibrant community center in the neighborhood and all that it offers, please show us your support by participating in our events, becoming a friend of the WSCC, making a donation, or volunteering.
