Volunteer today to maintain/increase open hours of the PlaySpace.
All children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver when visiting the PlaySpace. A membership to the WSCC at the $40.00 or above is required. In addition, PlaySpace members are asked to volunteer two hours per month. You are not responsible for any children but your own. Mission and Values: The WSCC PlaySpace will kick off its existence in 2012 as a non-profit, completely volunteer-run cooperative of the WSCC. We are committed to our community and our mission is to create a clean, safe, fun place for parents, caregivers and children to play and learn together. Our goal is to create a gathering place for parents and caregivers to educate and support one another, to grow friendships, develop our parenting skills and to build strong families. We encourage the healthy development of children and welcome families of all races, religions, cultures and economic levels and we encourage respectful interactions.
Volunteering: What does a PlaySpace volunteer do? An opening volunteer arrives 10 minutes before opening, turns on lights and turns up heat. Check in members. A closing volunteer announces 15 minutes before closing that you will be closing, ask members to pick up toys. Turn off lights, turn down heat, lock door to PlaySpace. If you have signed up as a Volunteer, you will be contacted to discuss when you wpuld be able to volunteer. While you are volunteering, your children always come first! If you are unable to fulfill a scheduled shift, please give as much notice as possible (preferably 24 hours).
Private Party Rental: If you are planning on having a party, please remember that the PlaySpace is available to members only for rent for birthdays, playgroups, family reunions and more. Please contact Patty at wsccpgh@yahoo.comor call the WSCC for more information. The rate is $75.00 for two hours rental of the PlaySpace and the use of an additional room for cake and goodies.
Hours of Operation: It is always a good idea to call first to see if we are open. Our hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 9.30am-11.30am. Hours will expand as volunteers are added.
PlaySpace Rules
1. All children must be accompanied by their parent/caregiver at all times. Rough play is not permitted.
2. No food or drink is permitted. Only nursing or bottle-feeding and water is a closed “sippy cup” is permitted, no exceptions.
3. Toys may not be removed from the PlaySpace.
4. No diaper changing in the PlaySpace. There are changing tables in the restrooms.
5. Toys placed in a child’s mouth must be deposited in the toy cleaning bin when the child is done playing with is so it will be cleaned before being returned to the floor.
6. Please spend the last 10 minutes of your visit putting toys away.
